Better Together

Your challenge is to create a tool, app, or resource that helps close a gap that causes people to experience inequality. This combination of humanity and technology should eliminate or lessen a systemic issue and educate the user so they can grow.

Robotic Hand for Sign Language Duplication.

Summary

In general our project is based on IOT based robotic hand that can duplicate the sign languages and show the letters on display. This project basically describes the sign language duplication system. The system technologies rely on wireless connection on a short range. To reduce manpower, remote processing based on wireless connection is necessary. We faced many problems and challenges during the development time. This project took me through the various phases of project development and gave me real insight into the world of robotics. It was a nice learning curve to work on an IOT related field.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our project is IOT based robotic hand to mimic sign languages. It removes the inequality of hearing impaired and normal people. With further modification of our project we will be able to duplicate all sign languages on a robotic arm. We can also increase the range of the robotic arm in future.

How We Developed This Project

Sometimes we need sign language interpreter in many programs. With a fully automated robotic arm able to perform sign operations reduce the need of human interpreter. This is our aim to develop this device. The main components we used in our project are arduino Uno, Flex Sensors, nRF24L01. We used arduino IDE and Fritzing IDE for coding and sketching. We faced problems like range inequality of flex sensors and wiring problems.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

Different space agency data on IEEE papers are used in our project for different parts.
