OneCreed has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!
1. Biases only exist in our minds. These biases go away as we witness the world as one. Our aim is to simulate this experience (called the overview effect) and spark positive conversations by leveraging social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn.
2. Race does not biologically exist, yet how we identify with race is so powerful. It influences our experiences and shapes our lives. Our brains automatically associate with the things unconsciously and thus creates inequality. The boundaries only exist in our brains. Positive conversations around inequality are the best way to fight it.
3. The AR filter closes the cognitive bias that causes people to experience inequality by giving them experience the Overview Effect. The differences they have created on Earth vanish quickly and the gap is bridged by educating people with the technologies they are familiar with.
4. Social media is the fastest way to spread ideas and reach the masses. The users take a journey to space which helps them realize that boundaries don't exist in reality. This also creates a ‘delight’ which nudges them to share the message with more people thereby sparking a positive dialogue.
5. People would use this on social platforms. Share it. Express their opinions. This would spark conversations around inequality. Social media has a large influence on peoples' minds. It has shown the potential of starting the biggest movements in history. Just like the earth from up above, it has no boundaries. The more people share, the better.
1. Although the world has changed very rapidly; the problem of inequality is still rooted in us either consciously or unconsciously. It is necessary for people to come together and discuss this. When we remove inequality we can see the quality in people.
2. We immersed ourselves in the data provided by NASA, we understood how biases exist in our lives and shape us. After reading about the overview effect, and how it had changed the world view of the astronauts, we wanted to experience it on our own. After exploring some videos, we experienced the overview effect and realized how it changed the way we think about the world and the people.
3. We used tools like Figma, Spark AR, Photoshop and Filmora to develop our project. We followed a Design thinking and human-centered approach for our project.
4.The biggest challenge was to understand the complexity of inequality. Inequality is rooted in the very fabric of how we grow. It's the small experiences that make up our brain which is associated with things unconsciously. The biggest achievement was to understand why we differentiate and why we discriminate between people and ways to start conversation around it.
The AR technology used in developing this concept is very new and not many resources are available to use the existing technology and tools to create such an experience. But, we tried to develop such a technology in such a short period of time.
The resources shared by NASA paved the way to building this project at each and every step. The experiences of astronauts in space gave us a nudge to think about inequality from their perspective. The TedX talks, The infographics helped us understand the scale of the problem. The videos and images helped us immerse in the experience of the astronauts. The resources showed us a way to start a conversation around inequality and make an impact on the people by delivering an engaging and community-driven solution.
