Spot That Fire V3.0

Recent wildfires worldwide have demonstrated the importance of rapid wildfire detection, mitigation, and community impact assessment analysis. Your challenge is to develop and/or augment an existing application to detect, predict, and assess the economic impacts from actual or potential wildfires by leveraging high-frequency data from a new generation of geostationary satellites, data from polar-orbiting environmental satellites, and other open-source datasets.

Fight For the Future

Summary

Our project is an early control system designed with renewable energy to prevent forest fires caused by natural factors such as foehn winds. Its aim is to minimize forest fire damages. The first aim of using barriers with fans is to minimize disforestation and drought by cooling the warm wind via fans. We are planning to use ultrasonic frequencies and sound sensor to prevent loss of animals and peoples lives. Also, the reason of using wind trees is not to harm the natural environment when it is working and to make it more affordable. Moreover, another goal of using renewable energy is to prevent environmental pollution. In conclusion, we are hoping to find solutions to many problems at once.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We tried to develop a new system which decreases the most harmful effect of foehn winnds. Our project aims to prevent the possibility of forest fires happening because of warm local winds by taking necessary measures. In this way, we hope to avoid disforestation, loss of lives and global warming in a way.

How We Developed This Project

What inspired our team is unstoppable forest fires such as Amazons , Australia and Turkey which happened especially on the hills. We have taken advantage from renewable energy sources, basic fan system, and gsm and sound sensors. Our team has used Photoshop CC and Camtasia 9 to draw our project, toy blocks to model it. The lack of materials because of Covid-19 was a problem for us but we have converted it into an achievement by revealing a prototype.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

From open data provided by NASA, we used Worldview, Fire Map, Earth Data,
