Spot That Fire V3.0

Recent wildfires worldwide have demonstrated the importance of rapid wildfire detection, mitigation, and community impact assessment analysis. Your challenge is to develop and/or augment an existing application to detect, predict, and assess the economic impacts from actual or potential wildfires by leveraging high-frequency data from a new generation of geostationary satellites, data from polar-orbiting environmental satellites, and other open-source datasets.

Wildfires full control

Summary

Dividing vast areas into small areas is the key to control wildfires. Predicting the wildfires will be by sensors which are adjusted to give alert much earlier and also by tracking animals’ behavior. Greenhouses are for saving animals’ lives. Our application is for handling the whole matter in an easy way.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Embedding temperature sensors adjusted to work before a blaze 2 days earlier is a unique project. We developed ideas to protect animals, like fireproof greenhouses. Tracking the behavior of animals by GPS. We hope in the future to achieve better progress using machine learning to predict wildfires before they happen without sensors.

How We Developed This Project

We thought of this challenge because it affects our planet badly. We thought of some ideas. We started to set basic designs. We searched a lot for Fires Data to help predict the wildfires. We used JAVA in the android application. A problem that we faced is that we did not find JSON extension, but we have sent an e-mail to NASA FIRMS and they sent us the link to download. We managed to use the DATA efficiently.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used NASA FIRMS data and it was really helpful. We managed to functionalize it into our application. It helps us to predict the fire track.
