Spot That Fire V3.0

Recent wildfires worldwide have demonstrated the importance of rapid wildfire detection, mitigation, and community impact assessment analysis. Your challenge is to develop and/or augment an existing application to detect, predict, and assess the economic impacts from actual or potential wildfires by leveraging high-frequency data from a new generation of geostationary satellites, data from polar-orbiting environmental satellites, and other open-source datasets.

Wildfire alarm

Summary

our prototype is very simple and developable. It consists of (Node MCU, MQ-2 Gas sensor, and mobile application). After connecting the wires together (the male and female wires), we wrote the Arduino code and connected the Node MCU, which contains the WIFI module, to the mobile application. When applying, Everyone in the cottage (used for surveillance the wildlife) who got the application on his mobile will be notified through a signal from the sensor at the time of dangers. Hence, he will be able to tell the supreme authorities immediately. All we need is just a WIFI signal in each forest as the application cannot work without the internet service which can be exist with signal towers.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Forest fires are known to have a devastating effect, and it increases when response is delayed

Our project helps to detect fires early and save all that can be saved and its importance is summarized in the following points:

1- Detect fires more quickly.

2- Save larger areas of forests as a result of reaching them faster.

3- Reducing the damage caused by forest fires

We hope that our project will help reduce the damages of forest fires. We also dream to raise awareness about this high-risk environmental disaster.

How We Developed This Project

The idea for our project is developed from the home fire alarm system, we have added the application through which the fire notification is sent to the phone and a very sensitive fire sensor and we have worked on the software codes for linking the application with the device.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We benefited from the data sent by reviewing the sources and understanding the summary. Virtual Bootcamp helped us by motivating us to participate in this great event. This is why we thank NASA for making us part of this event. We formed the team based on the instructions mentioned in the sources and started implementing our idea.
