Spot That Fire V3.0

Recent wildfires worldwide have demonstrated the importance of rapid wildfire detection, mitigation, and community impact assessment analysis. Your challenge is to develop and/or augment an existing application to detect, predict, and assess the economic impacts from actual or potential wildfires by leveraging high-frequency data from a new generation of geostationary satellites, data from polar-orbiting environmental satellites, and other open-source datasets.

Summary

the project that we have been working on is a database that will store information. First a satellite that we designed will be on a stationary orbit over specifically California will be taking pictures of California and sensing any atmospheric changes in California. Every hour the satellite will be consistently sending data over to NASA for someone to put the info in the database. Eventually we that database will have collected enough data to be able to predict when a wildfire may happen, the more data the more paresis predictions. In the future we are hoping that more satellites can be created and same with databases to cover more of the world.

How We Addressed This Challenge
  • we developed a satellite and database to predict wildfires. This is important because this can minimize the amount of damage a wildfire can do to humanity. This works by a satellite taking pictures and sensing atmospheric changes specifically in California. Every hour the satellite will be sending data back to NASA and someone will put the data in the database and eventually be able to make predictions, the more data the more paresis predictions will be. We hope that we can get more satellites in space and more databases and make this world wide. We also hope to minimize the amount of damage wildfires do to humanity and earth.  
How We Developed This Project

we we inspired by the fire in California and wanting it to minimize the cause of fires increasing. we brainstormed many ideas and we decided to chose this idea because this idea can be affective for a long time. we chose python to create this project.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

we used them to learn more about how satellites work and how they are able to send messages to earth
