Spot That Fire V3.0

Recent wildfires worldwide have demonstrated the importance of rapid wildfire detection, mitigation, and community impact assessment analysis. Your challenge is to develop and/or augment an existing application to detect, predict, and assess the economic impacts from actual or potential wildfires by leveraging high-frequency data from a new generation of geostationary satellites, data from polar-orbiting environmental satellites, and other open-source datasets.

JOIN HANDS TO SAVE OUR PLANET

Summary

Wildfire will keep on influencing source water quality coming about to expanding treatment, upkeep and working expenses. Hence, forest and watershed administrators and water providers must be all around educated about wildfire impacts to create moderation procedures to manufacture strength to fierce blaze in water flexibly. For detection of fire and smoke different types of sensors be used in the forest. After sensor detects fire and smoke, they send directly alert message to the fire station and nearby areas through some source like apps, sending sms alerts to mobile phones. After receiving message the forest officers will come and extinguish the fire and also they will alert near by people.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Why is it important:

Monitoring of the potential risk areas and an early detection of fire can significantly shorten the reaction time and also reduce the potential damage as well as the cost of fire fighting.

How We Developed This Project

We choose this challenge because we depend on forests for our survival, form the air we breath to the wood we use. Besides providing habitats for animals and livelihoods for humans , forests also offer watershed protection, prevent soil erosion and mitigate climate change. We faced a bit of challenges such as shortage of time but we made this come true.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

By using space agency data we analyze the effects , causes of wild fire. In order to help for better detection we bring in our concept of sensors. NASA is currently using satellites whereas we are using sensors to detect fire and smoke with in seconds and sending alert messages to forest office and rescue team.
