Can You Hear Me Now?

Human missions to Mars are moving from the realm of science fiction to science fact. Your challenge is to design an interactive application to explore the challenge of communicating with astronauts on Mars from Earth.

Martians*

Summary

Our challenge is finding and addressing ways to make astronauts on mars or in space be able to talk with space agencies here on Earth . Our solution is making an app and its responsibilities for describing the ways of communication on earth which are mobile phones, internet, radio waves, and sign language, ways of communication between earth and mars or The International Space Station which they are satellites, Mars rovers and spread network “SN”, andthe problems that face the communications of earth with mars and space.

How We Addressed This Challenge

My team and I built an app that shows different ways of communication, whether between people here on Earth or between people and astronauts and rovers in space. When you ask people how space agencies communicate with astronauts in space they do not tell you an answer, because they do not know. If you asked them about communication ways here on Earth, some will know but not all of them. So, we decided to build an app that will show different ways and problems of communication on Earth, in space , and on the Red Planet. The app is so simple, all the user have to do is, clicking on the buttons and just read the information. What we hope to achieve from this project is, we find more people who know about ways of communication and the problem the world is facing regarding communication. We also hope that people with great minds will have solutions to the problems after knowing more about them.

How We Developed This Project

We were inspired when we met who do not about communication that happens between space agencies here on earth and rovers in Mars or astronauts in space. We wanted to gather a huge amount of information so that anyone who opens the apps can know a lot about communication. We put a plan of how our app would look like, and then we decided what will be build our app with. After that, we designed animated photos of Mars and Earth and used them to design the app itself. Then we built the app by using (App Lab) where you can build an app using JavaScript with either blocks or text. The problem we faced was that, there are a lot of buttons and screens, so assigning the codes for them was a little hard but we managed to do it. After putting everything together, the app is ready to be used, and this was our achievements.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used the Mars Overview link (https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/mars/overview/) to gather information about Mars and some Rovers that are on Mars.

We used the Deep Space Network link (https://www.nasa.gov/directorates/heo/scan/services/networks/deep_space_network/about) and the Deep Space Optical Communications link (https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/tdm/dsoc/index.html) to get information about the deep space network, satellites and rovers and use it in our app.
