Data Discovery for Earth Science

Websites like the NASA Earth Observatory showcase the many uses of satellite data to highlight interesting natural events. International partner instruments on NASA satellites such as Japan’s ASTER instrument and Canada’s MOPITT instrument, both onboard the Terra satellite, are also included as part of the Observatory. This challenge will ask you to devise a tool or technique to guide users to relevant datasets to study specific events.

Environmental Natural Events Discovery

Summary

There are many natural events that occur on Earth. NASA tracks those natural events by using satellites. So that if humans find one website where they see and observe those events. Then if they gain knowledge about those events then it empowered them to take actions together. We are using satellite data to highlight interesting natural events from the NASA earth observatory website. Users can visualize natural events like wildfires, severe storms, sea and lake ice, and volcanic events. They can also see the number of events in each category by simply hovering over the pie chart. There is also a list of websites where you can visit websites to see more about particular natural events.

How We Addressed This Challenge

In the Category Connect and the Sub-Category Data Discovery for Earth Science , NASA gives us Challenge that create a tool or technique to guide users to relevant datasets to study specific natural events.

So that by using the NASAEarth Observatory Natural Event Tracker API we created a very user friendly website .

It always provides the updated information about the occurring natural events world wide. It always shows natural events like wildfires , volcanoes etc. I PIE Charts for the last 30 days.

It's important because users can prepare about the natural events by getting information from our website. For analysis purpose researcher can also use this site.

We believe that we were able to achieve a very user friendly informative website for latest occurring natural events.

How We Developed This Project

We built a website. We used node.js in the back end part and our website servers used NASA's Easth Observatory Natural Event Tracker(EONET) API. For showing the natural events in the map we used Leaflet JS and for the visualization we used Chart Js.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used NASA's Earth Observatory Natural Event Tracker(EONET) API : https://eonet.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov. From the API we fetch the natural events data such as wildfires and storms etc.
