Awards & Nominations

Eisei has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!

Local Peoples' Choice Winner

Orbital Sky

A huge number of satellites in Earth's orbit support our day-to-day life on the ground. Your challenge is to develop a method to improve public knowledge of these satellites, with an eye towards driving user engagement, enthusiasm, and exploration.

EISEI

Summary

Hi, we're the EISEI team! We know the importance of science communication to show how much satellites are present in everyday life. But, many people dont know about this information due to lack of disclosure .Thus, integrating google maps gelocation with data provided by the agencies, we developed a game called: ABOVE YOU where the space agencies have lost control from their satellites. Now, your mission is to recover them in an epic battle in augmented reality. Help us to collect and fill. Help us to collect and fill the inventory with this lost information and to explore the 3D images, making users learn about the importance of what is above us. Do you know what's above you?

How We Addressed This Challenge

The developed project is an application whose main objective is to present in a playful way, a compilation of information exposed by space agencies about satellites and their functionalities.

The application brings on its platform tools for capturing satellites in augmented reality and allows the user to view the main information about satellites in their inventory and their main functions. To stimulate users and generate enthusiasm, the game has a type of battle, through a quiz with questions about astronomy and captured satellites, in which it is possible for the user to win satellites from other users of the app from different locations. In this battle, the satellites to be conquered are those known as geostationary stations, which have a fixed location and could not be captured only through augmented reality. At each stage, the user reaches a new level, winning rare satellites and being able to occupy the first position in a ranking becoming an ambassador for the local space agency. In addition, the user can be directed to the official websites of space agencies and have access to all data and information about satellites.

Thinking about the business model and how to generate profitability to our application, there would be a space in the collection of each satellite where the user would have access to wallpapers of photos registered from the orbit of the earth and the solar system. In addition, public ads, traditional in free apps.

We hope that through this application a larger portion of the population will have in their hands in a more practical way the information presented in complex and difficult to understand databases.

How We Developed This Project

Our daily life is surrounded by facilities provided by orbiting satellites that sometimes go unnoticed, with the desire to disseminate information about these satellites to the world and what they provide us in a playful and exciting way the Eisei team was born (satellite in Japanese), to solve the proposed challenge, a Mobile Game is being elaborated that will give the user the main information about the satellites and what they do. No coding tools, hardware and software were used for development since only the prototype design and its idealization were made due to the lack of mastery of the necessary resources. Problems faced were directly related to the short term for idealization and development of the idea as well as the lack of mastery of some necessary tools. Along the way we have achieved notable and important achievements to be mentioned as the satisfactory result of a survey conducted by us through a form for collecting quantitative data on the subject, as well as the production of an incredible pith, in addition we can mention a huge personal growth and a wealth of experience that will accompany us for a lifetime.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We collected several links from space agency websites that contained information (function, mass, orbit, launch date, weight, among others) about satellites. That way, this information can be used in the game in an accessible way for anyone to understand. In addition, the information taken from the orbits will integrate with google maps with the person's geolocation so that the game operates in augmented reality.
