LEAP_N_BOUND has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!
We try to engage our audience by making user-interactive graphs. In addition, we add the wind direction and velocity animation to make our graphs more attractive. Our project provides users an innovative way to interact with the satellites. We can see what an astronaut sees in the space through switching the views of satellites by clicking the mouse at home. It brings the satellites closer to our lives.
Our team members come from a variety of STEM background, specializing in data science, computer science and physics. We want to present the beauty of STEM to our audiences. This project allows us to spread the power of science by introducing the engineered artifacts that significantly improve our life.
We locate the longitude and latitude of the satellites by connecting the NASA API. Then, we add a layer which represents the view of a specific satellite in real-time on the world map. Moreover, we add another layer including the animation of wind. We mainly use python to accomplish the visualization. We are challenged by calculating the location of the satellites but we successfully tackle it in the end.
We connect to the NASA API to obtain the positions of the satellites and access the views of different satellites such as Sentinel-1A, Sentinel-2A, Sentinel-2B, Sentinel-3A, Sentinel-5P, Landsat-8, via Euro Data Cube.
