"Get to know satellites" is a web application aimed at informing normal people about the man-made satellites all around the Solar-system. At this moment users will only be able to learn about the active satellites of NASA. Many people know what satellites do. But do they actually? Most of the people know that a satellite is a piece of tech moving around space, but many people don't know what the satellites actually do at space except for moving around. Information about what satellites actually do at space (except for moving around) is scattered all around the internet. So we collected the most important information like manufacturer, price, etc and organized them in one place.
NASA's challenge was to create a bridge between humans and sartellites. For every relationship there are levels. For example: know each other-->talk with each other--> Becomes friends --> Becomes best friends--> Becomes Best Friend Forever. Just like that the relationship between human and satellite needs to go stage by stage. Normal people and satellites are in the first stage and our web app will upgrade it to the next level by giving simple but mostly unknown informations about satellites to normal people.
Our team is a group of three kids. Whose age is from 11-12. So we wanted to choose such a challenge that will match our mindsets while we can have an impact on the society. Then we found this challenge and we were all in. At first we made plans on what to do.
After the challenge started we made some space 3D renders in blender. Then we collected a lot of data and organized them in MS words. At first we were making our website in HTML, CSS and JS but then on October 4th both of our web developers went inactive because of which our website was made using mobirise (as I'm not good with HTML, CSS and JS). Then after making it in mobirise we uploaded the files on github instead of publishing it with mobirise.
We had some small problems and the main problem was time zone. One of our team member is from Bangladesh, another member is from East coast, USA and the other member is from west coast, USA. Only one of our members had permission from her parent to be an all-nighter. So it was hard but fruitful. Also we found out that we al have a big lack of sincerity.
We have a lot of achievements from Space Apps. First one is that it's our first hackathon, Then it gave us a great thing to put in our college applications. But the biggest achievement we got was the spirit of collaboration.
We actually didn't used any of the resource given. But we did used NASA data for the main information about the satellites.
