Space Exploration in Your Backyard

The work of space exploration (and the societal benefits it brings) permeates every location and facet of society. Your challenge is to create a visual representation of the breadth of the space sector’s influence, showing the network of organizations and locations associated with the work of space exploration.

Air wire

Summary

First: Our project depends on ordinary electrical wires made of copper or aluminum, with wires that are less weighty and polluted than ordinary wires. Second: Our project depends mainly on the experience of the American scientist John Thompson, by replacing electrical wires with light glass wires that can be extended for long distances at a low cost. Third: One of the obstacles facing the makers of spacecraft is weight, as the greater the weight of the spacecraft basics, the more difficult it becomes, and our project solves this problem by replacing all the wires with gas wires.

How We Addressed This Challenge

First, we must know the properties of the gas wires:

1 / It travels in straight lines from the cathode to the anode simplified parallel to the electric field applied between the anode and the cathode.

2 / It has a thermal effect as it creates a glow on the wall of the vacuum tube.

3 / It is made up of small body minutes. That is, it has mass and is affected by magnetic and electric fields in a way that indicates that it has a negative charge.

4 / It does not change by changing the type of cathode material or the type of gas used, which indicates that it is included in the composition of all materials.

5 / It is affected by any magnetic field surrounding the torch, which allows us to fold the wires and determine their path.

In so doing, it fulfills all the prerequisites for lightweight wires in spacecraft.

How We Developed This Project

1 / We replaced the glass in Thomson's experiment with stronger glass or materials such as leather.

2 / Using cheap gases, which makes them easier, cheaper and available.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

1 / In determining the largest weight of the spacecraft.

2 / The permitted materials for the spacecraft.

3 / Electrical connections in spacecraft.

The solution is in these wires, which will make spacecraft lighter, which will make us aspire to further horizons
