Every time we think of space, we think of it as just a great place where there are only stars and other planets, but it is much more than that. The importance of space does not pass only by the celestial bodies, but also by the things that we develop to send to that remote and arid place. Many things that we use periodically, exist thanks to the development of space and its use. An example of this is medicine, if it were not for manned missions to space, there would not be, for example, computed tomography.Without realizing it, we use these satellites that orbit the earth on a daily basis for communication, location, weather prediction and catastrophic events (such as fire or flood) and ground observation, so space is not only something exotic, but also functional and important. for the development of the human being.
In order to demonstrate all the statements that we contrasted in our project, we developed a series of graphs and data that show the reality of the impact on our lives thanks to space and the development that it generates periodically every time an experiment or launch of a rocket takes place.
With this project, besides getting more people informed about space and scientific development, we also want the state space agencies (NASA, JAXA, ESA, ROSCOSMOS, among others) to give it the relevance that space deserves, and that it is not just another part of space spending also we want to make the society a more connected one, like for example with our webpage and blog so they can read news, the history of the private and public space agencies and argue about certain topics and give feedback about individual projects at a level worldwide.
So we hope to create a nice a community, that communicate via our blog and to inform people about all agencies globally, so they can find out everything they want, on a single page and not have to open hundreds of links and pages to find the information they are looking for.
The first step was to brainstorm with the whole team and from there we got solutions and ideas about this problem. We were inspired to choose this topic by the misinformation people had about it. The information used was a comparison of graphs, of the US GDP with the NASA state space expenditure, but there are also many other ways to compare it. The problems that we had to face were how do we make the society of today an informed society about the topic and some solutions were: to create and spread publicity campaigns about it. To make education more involved in the branch towards what is the astronautics since in most of the countries like Uruguay there is no specialized study in this field. And as a last solution to the budgetary problem, is to increase the space expenditure, since in the few countries that exist, very few resources, time and money are allocated to its development, so we propose a very significant improvement in spending on space and finally making a webpage since we are in a global pandemic, so all the poblation of the world could have acces to this web with information about everything about this topics and also it will have another part that would be a blog.
To develop our project, we use the information we were given and access other trusted sources in order to demonstrate what we want to make relevant. The information we use like for examlpe, the budget that NASA has from the goverment, so we compare this and conclude that the NASA need a huge increase in their budget so they can continue making their studies and exploring new horizons. Also we use the information for our webpage, so we recopilate all their history from the beginning to up to this day , their projects, and news of them, to create the webpage.
