Our project is focused in showing all the main, and small, facilities dealing with space all around the globe. Many counties have their own governative space agencies, meanwhile there are also privates agencies which collaborate at a international level, we expect that the number of privates will extremely rise up in the next few years. This can be seen both from some graphs and especially thanks to our interactive map, in which is possible to click on every country and be addressed to the list of its main space facilities. We hope to grow among the people the awareness of the massive importance of space in our daily and future life.
Also, for the CNS vision we moved researches into related to future investments on the space sector. It is estimated that the global space industry could generate revenue of more than $1 trillion in 2040, in this context we expect a growth also in the private investment related to the space. Given the growing development of the sector, it becomes essential to connect man in common with space, to understand that space is much closer than we think.
This is why we propose our idea of an orbiting hub where there can be a colony of 10,000 inhabitants in constant contact with universities and research centers around the world.
We have been inspired by the huge number of space missions that take off every day. We used HTML, CSS, MATLAB, 3D SolidWorks and other tools to produce graphs that can exactly show our results. Our main problems were 2. First of all we had no idea that there was such a huge number of space facilities in so many countries. The other problem was that we had to figure out the trend of growth of some technologies (ex. 3d printing) in order to estimate when our project could be realized. Our approach was based on some scientific knowledge we already had, and then developed thanks to some data found on internet.
We searched for all the small space companies that worked as partner with NASA, CNES, CSA, JAXA, ESA, and so on, to create a complete list with all the companies that gave a meaningful contributions to science and exploration missions. This data has been essential to create our map that can be seen here.
