We developed a web app that allows users to calculate various travel times and accelerations for travelling between the Earth and various other stars in the universe. It works by the user selecting a star and a propulsion technique and clicking calculate, which then displays the values for the time of travel and acceleration based on the star and propulsion technique. We hoped to achieve an easy to use web app that provides quick and interesting information for the user.
We were inspired to choose this project because we thought the idea of the different propulsion techniques for future space travel really interested us. Our approach was to divide the work based on different people's expertise and combine all the work together at the end using Github. The tools and languages we used were Google Firebase for the backend and we used React for the front end.
We used space agency data for the different stars and their respective distances from Earth as well as different propulsion techniques and their properties.
