We developed a website that targets young children from ages 4 and above. It tells kids the importance of taking action to make our planet better, to help environmental problems that happen every day. It will be best used in a classroom or a speech to young children. Our mascot is a dragon and this is not a real animal, but you can go to adobe and make a video with the mouth of the mascot moving, during certain sections where you think a mascot talking would be best like for the riddle. It is important to use a mascot to tell children about NASA's open data since children get distracted easily without something unique to catch their eyes.
Our team chose this challenge because we thought creating a mascot to inform young kids about NASA's open data would be fun. We started with making a mascot digitally, first by creating a baby dragon by hand, then putting it onto a computer. Then, we created a website and had the mascot explain a lot about NASA's open data on there. We have also programmed codes to make animations that can show how NASA's open data and other agencies' data can be used. Of course, there are way more information that baby dragon could explain, but we focused on environmental improvements.
Our Mascot and website's main focus was about NASA and other agencies' data can help influence many problems we are facing globally. So these open data took a huge part of our project. We have used them ourselves to code and created animations of vegetation situation in four countries.
