We developed a fictional computer-made humanoid mascot based on the TESS satellite, thus calling it CandrikaTess (where candrika in Sinhalese means satellite). Our Candri is a cheerful, funny, self-confident character who feeds the curiosity of a young audience between 7 and 12 years old. Aesthetically, she is a slim 14-year-old girl with tanned skin, blue hair, green eyes, with satellite panels as wings and on her arm an antenna with the NASA logo as a shield, details that can easily be associated with CandrikaTess as the heroine that brought to light NASA. A galactic vigilante.
Candrika's desire is to open the way to the new generations in the scientific world, offering them in an appropriate and friendly way her knowledge of the universe, demonstrating optimism, trust, integrity, ethics and excellence.
Candri can help NASA reach a smaller audience through videos that simplify the information as well as interact with the observer by asking questions and making them feel comfortable with what they see.
We were debating what children would like to see on screen more, we came to the conclusion that a superhero is what most captures their attention. therefore we decided that a hero was what we needed. Each group did their part and technological tools were used for drawing and creating slides.
Our proyect was based on the satellite known as "TESS".Well, we use the space agency data in this ways: we used the video "Highlights From TESS's First Year" to get information about TESS and do the video, and we used the photos that are in the webpage about the satellite as a base of our mascot
