Earth Observation Centre on the Moon!
Summary
Inspiring young learners explore NASA and partners resources in fun and welcoming way. We used images and videos; showcasing through fun, interactive game base observation centre on the moon! :-). Children can fly rocket too!!
How We Addressed This Challenge
We've designed & developed highly interactive & fun play game which showcases images and videos from Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Earth Observation Gallery and NASA resources.
How We Developed This Project
- Being a part of "Create a Mascot" challenge, we thought of using CSA Earth Observation gallery in our project. We brainstormed many ideas and decided to add fun factor and out of world thinking by building centre/gallery on the moon!
- We wanted to have something highly visual, interactive, fun with flavour of cool animations. Plus we also needed to have project freely available for challenge submission. With all factors in mind, we decided to use CoSpace Edu as tool for project. For Videos, and image, we also used graphical tool Canva and Wondershare video editing tool. We've posted our 30 seconds video on YouTube.
- The problem was creating high definitions visuals and animations within short period of two days. So we decided to split the tasks and help each other when someone stuck or having a problem.It worked out very well.
- When project was almost done on 1st day, we thought of adding flavour of Boring company bricks. We are also huge fan of Elon Musk for his work determination and out of world thinking!
How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project
We have used Earth Observation Gallery Images from Canadian Space Agency (CSA). In addition, we also used video from NASA image galleries resources.
To fulfil our challenge, we used these resources to make them available in fun and welcoming way for younger audiences.
We have also mentioned about current year Space Apps Challenge at the start of video 'closing out space apps 2019'. While you check project and if this video already started and if you miss that part, one can replay video while inside observation centre.
Hope this will help many young youth learn about Space App Challenge and also inspire them to participate in next challenge (if they have not). Children can play our game, fly rocket & explore interactive resource inside observation centre.

- Moonset as seen by David Saint-Jacques
- David Saint-Jacques on a Glaciology expedition in the Kaskawulsh Glacier, Yukon
- The International Space Station shoots over Toronto
