Create a Mascot

The world is full of scientific information that can help us make informed decisions and take action. However, that information is not always accessible to young learners. Your challenge is to create a mascot that can help make learning about Earth and space science more fun and welcoming for younger audiences.

Game it

Summary

The project is an app that inspired from gamification science, awesome science that turning the use of game mechanics and game design techniques in non-game contexts. We’ve followed gamification science to improve the experience of learning something is new, something is hard and it has been converted into (Game it), “Game it” consists of different levels, each level follow a well-studied criteria to deliver complex concepts to younger age in a funny way, each level will give game for users and help him in passing the level by solving the problem that depends on the selected concept, the only way to access the next level is by understanding the concept which will make users win in the game.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We’ve developed a game that is important for younger, children, teens, even older age it’s so useful and helpful, this game is ready to provide users with new information about different complex concepts and its real life application, learning by doing is the best way to learn better and faster and this game achieve that, when you install Game it and begin using our game, you will notice three buttons levels, Made by, and Quit.

We hope at least after this hard working Game it helps younger to find out that learning science isn’t that bad as traditional is, we hope that we could simplify more concepts for each generation brain, the last thing that we’re looking for that someone continues our message and start searching and developing our application in the aimed scope.

How We Developed This Project

Our team got inspired by the surrounding environment, as we always see children and teens using their mobile phones or playing games on the PC, and on the other side, they find it difficult and boring to study. So we chose this challenge in order to combine studying and entertainment at the same time. Our approach is not to start from the zero, but to get some already ready basics to start, so we got a design of the objects we used from the internet and get the license of them for sure, then we started combining these designs to get our final design of the game, then we started developing it, adding new features to the game. we used the unity engine to make this game, visual studio for the C# coding and we also used photoshop a little bit to make the 2D designs in the game. and all of us are working on this project on his own laptop. The shortage of time and the shortage of experience in the game development were the two main problems that faced us while making the game, but now we are almost finishing level 1.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We took inspiration from CSA and JAXA as we browsed their galleries, we saw images of them teaching youth about space and taking them on field trips and taking photos with little kids so we thought that youth must know about the fabulous space and the stories of the great astronomers so we searched about the best way to teach kids and we found gamification which is the use of game mechanics and game design techniques in non-game contexts. on NASA data base so we searched for more information about NASA missions on the website so we want to make a game in which every level teaches the player a concept like gravity and speed and after the player finishes a level he will unlock a special level and listen to a story of a mission from NASA.
