Create a Mascot

The world is full of scientific information that can help us make informed decisions and take action. However, that information is not always accessible to young learners. Your challenge is to create a mascot that can help make learning about Earth and space science more fun and welcoming for younger audiences.

Mascot creation

Summary

Having a mascot is a good resource to gather attention mostly from young public. A lot of people love dinosaurs so we decided to make a raptor, so a lot of people will feel confortable with it. Learning is an important process and if we manage to get kids to get closer to science we will have a bright future.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We created a raptor dinosaur astronaut to talk to the younglings about curious facts of NASA. It's important because it helps to learn about cience in a less serious way. We hope it manages to get to young audiences and also some older ones.

How We Developed This Project

We read about the challenges and we chose the mascot because we came with a quick idea about it. The first idea was to make an animal astronaut, so we started to create the team. We love dinosaurs so we came with a few ideas for the name: moon trikes, rocket raptors, space rex, galaxy brontos and dinogalaxy; of course at the end we stood with rocket raptors. With the new name we realized that maybe changing the animal for a dinosaur, a raptor, was a better idea.

To design the drawings we used CorelDRAW X6 and for the design of the presentation we used Canva.

We managed to make the dinosaur look cool and a ensign for the rocket raptors crew. We had a few doubts about the project but we got answers with the mentors in Mexico city.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

The dinosaur will talk about cosities about the NASA and space so in the video we used some information from: "https://www.nasa.gov". We love curious facts of every topic so making another way to share it was a perfect idea for us.
