Create a Mascot

The world is full of scientific information that can help us make informed decisions and take action. However, that information is not always accessible to young learners. Your challenge is to create a mascot that can help make learning about Earth and space science more fun and welcoming for younger audiences.

Space Buddy

Summary

Companies responsible for research and the employment of scientists face the challenge of discovering and contributing to universal life by answering the mysteries to solve problems and increase terrestrial scientific knowledge. However, these data are submerged in a great barrier to inequality, which is present in education. Scientific knowledge is free on large platforms with a complex language, which almost invalidates the existence of this data for a general public, which is in the process of building interests, and when try to connect with science like this, the will is lost to learn, then we brought the space buddy that opens the doors of knowledge with our interactive mascot: Lionidas

How We Addressed This Challenge

Space Buddy

Space buddy is an application integrated with scientific information from large databases that seeks to bring the democratization of science to everyone in a didaditic and simplified way, with the texts always in a short and complete way, showing the knowledge step by step, at the same time. instead of presenting a child, teenager or adult with a difficult and complicated text that only removes interest, because it doesn’t dynamize and reach everyone, guaranteeing the future of new scientists and their interests since childhood, the universe of science is very beautiful for hide behind texts, seeing this we from the space buddy team same name as the app, we decided to dive into this challenge and create a mascot, Lionidas is very intelligent and teaches us a lot of lessons, he will be your friend and take you to discover an infinite universe, through artificial intelligence it will be possible to transform the data of the earth and space agencies into several short and simple texts shown through a colorful and contagious application with the presence of punctuation as a way to reward the user's learning, by accumulating coins it will be possible to increasingly discover the universe as a way of motivation to continue learning, in doubt call Lionidas !!

How it will work

When entering the application the user will be faced with Lionidas inviting you to start, and it really is a very tempting invitation, soon afterwards a screen will appear randomly based on your previous use without repeating, as in the prototype that is the moon, but it can be any large body in the universe. our Lionidas is very interactive he has been asking you what you know about the "object", he is introducing you to numerous functions, he knows how to describe in a very cool way, everything you need to know to see that science is animal! !!

With our little project we want to reach this great world, bringing the strength of a lion and freeing science for everyone

How We Developed This Project

The space buddy team wanted to bring a complete app that would serve all audiences and still look nice. That's why we use Figma to develop its prototype, which is a free platform that allows its use in a collaborative way, and in the future when it comes to putting it into practice we will look for more complex resources that allow us to program your data according to our plans. We also used the photosop tool to develop our beloved mascot: Lionidas

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We use the NASA API portal carrying the api.nasa.gov catalog, including images, eminently accessible to the developers of our application applications. We use the APOD API, located at : https://api.nasa.gov/planetary/apod and the API to access the NASA Image and Video Library, https://images-api.nasa.gov. Earth and EONET can also be used. We generated an API key to simulate and start using the Nasa API. And from that we found that simplifying these texts from the nasa catalog would be very interesting, it would already allow us to reach our goal of democratizing science. Looking at this official information in the catalog, we realize the main reason for choosing this challenge, the difficulty of interpreting scientific sources.
