Create a Mascot

The world is full of scientific information that can help us make informed decisions and take action. However, that information is not always accessible to young learners. Your challenge is to create a mascot that can help make learning about Earth and space science more fun and welcoming for younger audiences.

Explore space with Sirius

Summary

We all heard the phrase “the dog is man’s best friend,” as Sirius will be the best friend of all these little scientists. The vast majority of young people admit that at an early age they were not instilled in love and passion for science, Sirius anticipates that possibility, and encourages interest in knowledge of astronomy, taking the resources of NASA pages and applications, which for this age range may seem boring. Sirius, with the application “ Explore space with Sirius”, will be that impulse for more children to be interested in science and astronomy.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We created an application pilot (a sketch), and tested it. It is very important, because it guides children to be interested in science at an early age, to cultivate that passion in future scientists and scientists, and to know what surrounds them.

They are a set of simple mini games guided by Sirius so that the information reaches the children in a summary, understandable way, and of course, while having fun.

We hope to ensure that the information that NASA provides reaches this specific audience more effectively.

How We Developed This Project
  • It was the first challenge that caught our attention because it focused on something very different from the others. It was youthful, fun, and included that own portion of creativity of the team members.

  • We focus on the youngest public in society; children.

  • Although the art and sketch of the Sirius mascot was handy, we use tools like Gimp, FlipaClip, PowerPoint, Canva, and Paint for retro style sought.

  • The challenge we initially chose, we could not deal with it due to problems with electronic devices, because of this, we had to change of challenge at approximately 7:00 p.m. (19:00) on October 3. In addition, a member of the team had to leave because of personal situations.
How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We use the images and information that accompanies them from the official NASA website; Missions, themes, among others.
