Create a Mascot

The world is full of scientific information that can help us make informed decisions and take action. However, that information is not always accessible to young learners. Your challenge is to create a mascot that can help make learning about Earth and space science more fun and welcoming for younger audiences.

NASA MASCOT - "FET" The Friendly Extra Terrestrial

Summary

The project entails the creation of an playful mascot to attract interest from middle school and junior high students. Our motto is "Outer Space - Not just for scientists". The mascot is a Friendly Extra Terrestrial - named FET. He is a journalist from the Intergalactic News Agency, accredited at NASA to observe the conditions at NASA's Future Lunar Base, Artemis. He has a pet cat named Rosa, and a space "car" a rocket to drive students around virtual voyages to get them acquainted with the outer space.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The project addresses the "Create a Mascot" challenge by coming up with a friendly and attractive design and an interesting backstory for the mascot. Potential additional elements could be incorporated later on: like a cartoon, a game, or other characters.

How We Developed This Project

FET, his Cat, and the Lunar Base Concept habitat are hand drawn and subject to future modifications.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

Incorporated the NASA and ROSA logos in the concept drawings plus referenced the NASA 2030 ARTEMIS Lunar Base Project in the backstory
