Global Nominee

Let's Connect

For bigger spacecraft capable of executing bigger missions, some of the assembly may be done in space. Your challenge is to design a simple approach that enables components to be assembled in space.

Connector Module for Shipyard

Summary

Air Connect ideated a module to connect multiple module and payloads with space station/s; essentially creating a shipyard. It is really useful relative to the present APAS-95 system. Our point of view is that if we use a connector have a cube shaped structure having a three portals module which can be used to connect with other payloads and Space crafts ship. In this way we can save our time as well as our areal benefit in this model view. It can also minimize the usage of robotic arms in space stations and also have a minimal work force. Our connector consist of basic of large areal compact environment which can also be used for the astronauts and other activities.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Connecting Module is a connecting system has multiple slot docking system which could be used for the space modules and payloads. This would help,

  • Allowing an additional tolerance for Payload trajectories, by giving them a multiple slots and relatively long arm
  • Allowing a shipyard and future space hotel to be built

This exclusively points towards our challenges.

We hope to have it in a more efficient way in a helpful manner that is can minimize the use of the robotic arm and other use of thrusters

How We Developed This Project

Initially, we consider designing mechanism of docking. For that we brainstormed multiple ones and phase out those which were not feasible in terms of manufacturing and engineering design. Then as we saw that for space case we need some at least basic engineering analysis using software such as ANSYS-which would take time to iterate the design precisely for the application. Thus, we decided to think something else. Then, Hammad Ahmed had an idea for connector module, upon a research we found similar form is also been used in Japanese housing, thus we gave it go. Adopting the NASA docking system, we modeled our connecting module.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We in directly used Space Agency Data, for getting the information about the docking systems.
