Let's Connect

For bigger spacecraft capable of executing bigger missions, some of the assembly may be done in space. Your challenge is to design a simple approach that enables components to be assembled in space.

Paracosm Mag-1

Summary

We developed a new assembling system for “Let’s Connect” category . This system will be an alternative for Canadarm-2. Our new system is called Paracosm Mag-1. With this new system estimated mass, volume and cost are lower than current systems. Paracosm Mag-1 works by magnetism. We want to use especially electromagnets in order to shorten the time when magnetic field is activated. The system can correct the coming module’s angle. After assembling interlock will be done as in the current state. We think this can be an alternative way for building big structures and transportation in space.

How We Developed This Project

We watched a video of physicist who was talking about space assembling system. He inspired us we can develop an alternative system to Canadarm2.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We got some information about Canadarm2 from CSA. We compared Canadarm2 and our project in terms of expenditure and mass.
