SatellitePhX| Let's Connect

Let's Connect

For bigger spacecraft capable of executing bigger missions, some of the assembly may be done in space. Your challenge is to design a simple approach that enables components to be assembled in space.

SattelitePhx’s Project

Summary

Our mission is to create strong connections between a variety of modules to create bigger spacecrafts and go deeper into the space. The modules will have some cylindrical connection pieces and air booster holes. The connection parts will fit into the other module in order to connect. When the cylindrical parts fit in the other module, the hooks will open and electromagnets will be activated as locks and the modules won't be able to be separated. The modules will communicate with each other using radio signals. If they are connected, they will communicate with the leading module and say that they are connected. Additionally, they will use DPS to know their locations in space.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We have developed a variety of modules in order to create bigger spacecraft. By creating bigger and better spacecraft, humanity has a chance to go deeper into space. Our project contains little modules which can be assembled by themselves or by the main control center. They are moved by little air boosters they have and all the information coming from the modules go to the leading module, and then the leading module transfers the information to the main control service. We hope to secure humanity's future in space.

How We Developed This Project

We thought that this challenge was a problem which we could solve. Our approach was to connect spacecraft modules strongly and as easy to send to space as possible.

We used Tinkercad, Google Slides and Google Documents to create our project. At the beginning of the project, we had so many problems to solve. Space is a complex and hard subject. For example, we tried to find out how we can make the computers find their location in space. We started to brainstorm while drawing our ideas using Tinkercad. After that, we created our slides and arranged them.
