Our team developed the basic docking mechanism for future space missions. As of now, space industry and research industry are exponentially increasing. Day by day, space missions are increasing therefore it is very important to create a safe mechanism for docking massive objects in space so that chances of error are minimized . Keeping this in mind, our team came up with a solution to this emerging issue. We propose a robotic arm guided docking system. From this project we aim to achieve a safe and less time consuming space flight. The astronauts have limited time and resources in space and have to do everything in balance and moderation so, if we can reduce this time then the astronauts will have more time for research and other productive activities, proving to be more economically efficient and useful.
Creation is the basis of our chosen problem. As science enthusiasts, we were always looking forward to new space missions and always curious to figure out that how things work in space. We have many space shuttle launch videos and thanks to YouTube for that and recently, our team saw the launch of "Dragon Crew Members". And from that, it clicked in our minds that docking is very crucial and time consuming part of any space mission. Therefore, our approach in developing this project was to find out that how the past and present docking mechanism works and how we can enhance it. For this project we have used many platforms and hard wares. From our smartphones, computer to engineering drawing tools like drafter, Kodular, solidworks (CAD),Filmora and slack etc. soft wares are used in this project.
We have used all our data from top most space agencies like NASA, CNES, ESA, JAXA, CSA etc. It gives us the idea to imagine the problem. It helps us to get the dimension for our SOLIDWORKS CAD model for capsule. Also, it provides us with the ideation of the present Docking mechanism as we couldn't move forward without it.
