When humanity fell in love with Mars

Summary

Our project tells the story of humanity, from evolution to now. Our story on earth, and to our journey to the moon and then to Mars. We think it is important to inform people on far we have come and how far we are going to go in the future. Although it is amazing to see how far humans have developed technology to go the moon and Mars, but we didn't start this way. We started as hunters and gatherers roaming the vastness of earth, then we domesticated animals and found ways to conquer the elements. Then we learned to live together as societies, communicating and developing ideas. That community forming lead us to develop technologies that will help all of us, including medicine and science.

How We Addressed This Challenge

In this project we've aimed towards information and inspiration through animated art, making it easy to comprehend and interpretate.

Music also plays a big role on this project as it was made with the spectator in mind, proportionating a more feelful experience to have.

The imagery is also very colourful and minimalistic to also elevate the experience without overloading the one who is watching.

How We Developed This Project

Our team members, firstly, chatted with each other in order to figure out everyone’s skills. Thereafter, we decided working on an animation video. However, it was quite difficult using animating programs, for both illustrators and video-editors. Even having animators-skilled teammates, everyone had to learn at least a little of editors platforms, such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects and PowerPoint. Besides, we also composed a song to use in the future for our project, by that we edited the audio in Audacity. Despite the obstacles, our group could successfully use all these softwares, and respectively, achieve our project goal in a video format.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

Our team took a look on the enable resources Space Apps website had, specially the NASA’s ones. At first, we used the NASA image galleries as a basis. Then, we tried using 3D data, and one of the integrants downloaded the app NASA’s Eye, which gave the group a great help. Furthermore, we also looked on the mission Moon to Mars data to understand the meaning of the project. In the end, the team could connect all those of informations and resume them in order to use for our work.
