Putting the 'Art' in Artemis

Your challenge is to create an artistic work to communicate, inform, or inspire others about humanity's road to Mars. Your art may be in any form, including (but not limited to): drawing, painting, sculpture, computer generated 2D or 3D, music, film, music video, written or spoken word, dance, and textile.

Looking to the future

Summary

We believe that in the future, we will be able to freely choose when we want to go to Mars. Our art depicts a future where people will grow up aspiring and yearning for the skies, and by extension, space exploration to Mars and beyond.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Just like the "march of progress" evolutionary diagram of monkeys by Rudolph Zalinger, we are showing that from now we will only further evolve into space. Space exploration will change our lives because it will become accessible to all. It will become ubiquitous to all. Artemis is just the tip of the asteroid. Our depiction shows that sapiens are not the only creatures to evolve; humans will evolve as we further develop techniques to get to space. We hope to inspire other young individuals to look to the skies and reach for space. Mr. Armstrong would say "It will be a series of small steps for mankind, but one giant leap for the Mars."

How We Developed This Project

Our art shows the first step--aspiring to be big. Taking that first step, leap, towards becoming more. and celebrating those small victories. As the child grows older, they learn and understand that they can reach for more! Standing was the first step, yearning to touch, and explore is next. The child is reaching for a dream that very soon, may come true. In a few years they will old enough to further explore and refine their dreams. The next picture shows the understanding of new tools that can be used to expand horizons and explore their next open space and horizon--the kitchen. The mom has bought space rocks (cookies). This is the natural progression for this little humankind. The young adult watches their new creation. Science is so advanced so even young people can build their own test ships and watch them, as they aspire for more. As an adult, you can self actualize. You can finally make the decision to go wherever the stars (or in this case, Mars) takes you. Our final picture is the dream of the child finally coming true. Whether an adult (inner child) or a real child, the yearning for exploration never stops.
