The challenge “Putting the ‘Art’ in Artemis” comes with the strong idea to communicate, inform or inspire others with Art being the medium, it fits perfectly to our Team’s motive, which is to reach out to all corners of the world by filling all the gaps of Age, Knowledge and Time. Art, being the epitome of Modern inspiration, gives us the opportunity to display our strengths and say what needs to reach others, not only as aspirant artists but as Humans and further, as admirers of the beautiful world outside ours.
We are a team of two, one of us started with the HTML and CSS code for animation and the other with the instagram filter.
A Mini-project based on HTML and CSS entirely, with the motive of creating a simple space-like-aesthetic but only with basic CSS animations.
The Html Code file, as the name says, is to be pasted onto the html section on the codepen page (editor)
Similarly the Css Code file needs to be pasted onto the css-styling section on the same.
The result can be viewed simultaneously while editing [or a full-page view is advised.]
Currently, the code primarily works on landscape-view screens (laptop devices).
The Html consists of tags of all the planets (Earth and Mars), stars, rover, satellite and the pop-up text . The Css consists of all shapes, their isolated positions, their animated keyframes and also the entire colour gradient.
The code results in a space-like background with Mars and Earth playing the center roles. The stars were added in the process of filling the empty darkness with something light. The satellite was another spontaneous addition and is made of a rectangle and a circle. All keyframe movements have been made of a slow-relaxed time-duration to give the sense of space.
The instagram filter was created and exported using the spark ar software. The mentors suggested some confounding ideas for the filter but unfortunately we were not able to follow-up to that so we decided to keep it simple. Anyone with an instagram account can use it by clicking on the link provided as it has been approved.(it is a preview link as the approved filter can be sharedonly through direct message)The filter shows the user in the mars background with rockets whirling around the head. Through this we have attempted to inspire the young generation in a fun way. https://www.instagram.com/ar/2866071966950025/?ch=Y2Q5YjMwZTAxYTBiM2Q3NGU0OWE0NjUxMDUyNzE2NjM%3D(works on mobile, when signed in to the instagram account, otherwise browse effects and search for mars)
Adobe photoshop was used to give a 3d effect to mars and stars were added in the background.
Using adobe illustrator's image tracing feature we added cartoon effect to a few images to make them look more appealing.
We also drew two cartoons to depict a mars rover's life.
We have produced our own music using the FL studio 20 software by experimenting with different sounds, strings and chords. The audio files produced were used in our project demo video and the final project video.
For adding animated texts and editing both the videos, Shotcut video editor was used.
We browsed the nasa archive gallery and images by nasa, where we found several clips, images and recordings which apprised us about the challenges faced by the scientists and engineers in preparing for the missions and launch. Most of these resources were used in our inspirational video and also in image tracing. Through these resources we got to visualise the rovers, orbiters, panoramic images. The recordings were very informative and helped us a lot with our video.
Through our project demo video we aim to share a few glimpses of our work. In our main project video we have tried to justify our title "The Shades of Red".
Humans need to be a multi-planet species. - Elon Musk, Which is why we need to explore mars, therefore we chose this as our topic.
"Only by pushing mankind to its limits, to the bottoms of the ocean and into space, will we make discoveries in science and technology that can be adapted to improve life on Earth"
There were many unsuccessful attempts before the actual missions could happen, but team of scientists and engineers were quite optimistic and determined ,so in our main project video we chose to share the information that Earth has acquired about mars.
