Putting the 'Art' in Artemis

Your challenge is to create an artistic work to communicate, inform, or inspire others about humanity's road to Mars. Your art may be in any form, including (but not limited to): drawing, painting, sculpture, computer generated 2D or 3D, music, film, music video, written or spoken word, dance, and textile.

The Elevated Voyage

Summary

I have developed an prototype of a road suitable for the Surface of Mars where travelers can travel without any difficulty by providing a similar atmosphere as that of Earth.

How I Addressed This Challenge

In our Design, the roads are slightly elevated in order to maintain a flat surface for the Road, and causing less destruction to the surface of Mars itself.

The roads are covered by protective tunnels in order to protect it from the toxic gases and dust.

Also, the tunnels are gravity controlled, which provides a safe atmosphere for fast moving cars from ‘rising and hopping’ due to high speed in low gravity (0.375 times that of Earth), which can cause tremendous accidents in various ways.

Also, the tunnels are temperature controlled as the temperature of Mars is very low as compared to that of Earth (Average Temperature of Mars- ‘-81 degrees F’).

How I Developed This Project

Software Used:

3D Builder

Tinker CAD

Blender

Advantages of Elevated Roads:

It saves a lot of time in travel – Since the road is elevated, the path of the road is in a straight line, so there is no need for turning for the obstacles in front.

Less Dust pollution – since the road is in height and covered the possibility of dust pollution is very low.

Weather protected – In Mars, giant dust storms can blanket the entire planet and last for months. But can be easily protected by the concealed road. 

The Elevator Pillar:

this pillar is designed to not only support the structure, but also be a means of transport or an elevator for the vehicles to move up and down with respect to the elevated road

Facilities:

Refueling stations at every elevator pillar

The electricity produced are totally by the solar panels in the outer part of the tunnel.

How I Used Space Agency Data in This Project

To know the conditions in the surface of mars

The gravity in mars

The kind of surface in mars

Data & Resources

Mars doesn't exactly put out a welcome mat. Landing is complicated by difficult terrain. The martian surface is full of obstacles--massive impact craters, cliffs, cracks and jagged boulders. Even the toughest airbag can be punctured if it hits a bad rock. Unpredictable winds can also stir up further complications.
