What Is Our Carbon Footprint?

Your challenge is to identify local sources of carbon emissions and/or estimate amounts of carbon emissions for different human activities to aid scientists in mapping carbon sources and sinks. How can you inform decisions to adapt to the consequences of a changing world and aid policy makers in making plans for the future?

Carbon Foot Print

Summary

Climate change has become a major issue on the agenda of many countries and a concern that is becoming more profound in every human being. The project developed by Bye Smoke is an interactive channel of information and awareness among the general population and climate change. The web application provides the population with understandable information, both visual and textual, of the pollution levels generated by human activity. Finally, the web application offers additional information to understand the importance of the carbon footprint and how its increase affects the world.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We developed a web application in which we can find an interactive map, statistics and information concerning the impacts produced by the carbon footprint.

The realization of the project had as objective that the information provided is consumed and understood by any person. This is important because the information reaches a larger population group.

We hope that the application generates awareness, greater dissemination and understanding of an increasingly important problem in our lives, such as climate change.

How We Developed This Project

Among the reasons that inspired us to carry out this challenge, is the opportunity to learn and contribute in areas that have a great impact on our lives.

We use web technologies such as: HTML, Angular, django, sqlite, python, typeScript... among others.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We use NASA data to understand our business model and generate our database schema. We also found data from the World Bank, which was very helpful in understanding the data needed to calculate the carbon footprint.
