Connected Organic World| What Is Our Carbon Footprint?

What Is Our Carbon Footprint?

Your challenge is to identify local sources of carbon emissions and/or estimate amounts of carbon emissions for different human activities to aid scientists in mapping carbon sources and sinks. How can you inform decisions to adapt to the consequences of a changing world and aid policy makers in making plans for the future?

Organic Lens

Summary

Due to the importance of carbon and lack of accurate estimation of carbon emissions, we designed an app helps to estimate local sources of carbon emissions for each organization or individual by answering the survey in the app. After answering, the data will be sent to NASA and OCO3.Then results extracted will be sent to each organization or individual to know their carbon footprint. Thus, it will be possible for everyone to know their carbon footprint, which will increase their awareness of its importance and the extent of its impact on the environment, and periodic awareness campaigns will be held on line that appear to the application user.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We developed the method that estimates local sources of carbon emissions and method that calculates the carbon footprint by an mobile app to be easy to use from anyone whether it is a government or an organization and this will be able to calculate their consumption of carbon because it is in contact with Google Maps and NASA (by sending the data collected from organizations and individuals after locating it on Google Maps). Its importance is that it identifies local sources of carbon emissions from human activities in almost accurate manner because they are rapidity changing . This will help organizations know their carbon footprint and its importance to enable them to deal with carbon emissions by rationalizing the consumption of carbon sources and thus each organization has a certain limit for consumption and also for each individual to reduce carbon emissions .And it will help the space agency to launch its rocket from the most suitable location that contains less carbon emissions sources and information will be closer to accuracy because it will be updated Periodically and it can communicate with individuals and organizations directly because it is easy to use unlike other projects.

The project is an app to calculate the local sources of carbon emissions from human activities and send this data to NASA then NASA can through it know the amount of carbon emissions so it can estimate the carbon footprint to everyone and every organization.

How We Developed This Project

What inspired us is what happened recently from carbon fires in Australia, California and the Amazon forests in recent years, and among these reasons were greenhouse gases, which we know that carbon represents an effect of 81% as it is from greenhouse gases in the listed picture:

Our team was thinking about doing research on how to separate oxygen from carbon dioxide to help the astronauts, and we were also thinking about trying to find a solution to reduce the proportion of greenhouse gases, and then when we found NASA's challenges, especially the carbon footprint, we found that one of our goals will be achieved by challenging the carbon footprint and so on. We will be able to try to treat the problem of greenhouse gases because carbon represents the largest percentage of greenhouse gases, and by that we will be able to save forest fires and others, and this is what made us call this name ( Connected Organic World). We are a continuous chain that is not finished. And from here we were inspired by the team slogan (Useful carbon equals a better life).

The method used by our team to develop the program is to design a previous application to calculate the local sources of carbon percentage for the individual and institutions, as it is easier to use than other programs as it enables the World Space Agency (NASA) to identify local sources of carbon emissions by answering the questionnaire, which enables us In making clear maps of the location of carbon emission, and then the data will be sent to OCO3 to calculate the most accurate percentage of the carbon footprint.

Since our application is based on data analysis we will use python language to get the advantage of its powerful data analysis and including codes of AI to easily predict and connect the data input from users to the OCO3 Nasa analyzer.

The number of the team was not enough to finish our work efficiently and when adding a new member we were able to complete our tasks as required as the resources were very large, but in the cooperative spirit we were able to accomplish them.

Questions that were always on our minds, but "Go team" helped us with those questions.

The time was not in our favor at all, as the time limit was too short, so we had to not sleep to complete the tasks that we set ourselves.

The idea of the application was a big challenge for us to get it out in the required form and in the correct technical way.

The task of public awareness about the carbon footprint was also a challenge for us.

It may be for some people normal, but the method of presentation and attractive content makes people aware of what the carbon footprint is and the danger of neglecting it.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used this link to know the carbon cycle and this inspire us to know some of carbon sources

We used this link to help us in our app because our data collected will be sent to OCO3 to help it to know local sources of carbon emissions and calculate carbon footprint to each organization and individual .

This device inspires us to develop it by mobile app .

Project Demo

Our solution based on using application to analyze the carbon footprint for individuals and organization and prioritize the estimate amount per section given in the survey. Check out our application ppt review.
