EcoKnowledge has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!

Local Peoples' Choice Winner
Global Nominee

What Is Our Carbon Footprint?

Your challenge is to identify local sources of carbon emissions and/or estimate amounts of carbon emissions for different human activities to aid scientists in mapping carbon sources and sinks. How can you inform decisions to adapt to the consequences of a changing world and aid policy makers in making plans for the future?

Visualization of Co2 emission

Summary

Our goal is to show how the world is changing thru out the years. We created an infograph to show how much Co2 human been emitted and we compared those values with the temperature elevation. We also linked an temperature map so people are aware of how we visualize earth thru those years.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our hope is to make people know and interact with global warming, sharing knowledge and visualization of what is actually happening in the world.

How We Developed This Project

We found data around NASA website and we start to develop the visualization of it. Problems that we found is, since is our first hackaton and we dont have much expertise yet in IT, we struggle to figure our how to build the visualization itself. Another problem was 3 of my team mattes just didnt show up and they were going to help us to create an API to load the data. Another team matte had internet problems so just one person and I had to improvise in order to give at least a piece of what we were going to make it.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

I used many open data from NASA, from txt files with temperature data to jpeg images of earth thru out the years
