What Is Our Carbon Footprint?

Your challenge is to identify local sources of carbon emissions and/or estimate amounts of carbon emissions for different human activities to aid scientists in mapping carbon sources and sinks. How can you inform decisions to adapt to the consequences of a changing world and aid policy makers in making plans for the future?

ECOMAP WEB APPLICATION

Summary

The main purpose of ecomap web application is to raise public awareness of the level of carbon emission that is released in the built-up area. Our map proceeds on the basis of data of an amount of carbon vented by enterprises in Dnipro.Ecomap is supposed to be a free app with up-to-date figures of not only factories and plants, but also with current information about exhausted fumes.We strongly feel that the first step we have to make to solve the issue of carbon pollution is to make everyone be clear about the carbon footprint.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Developed Ecomap Application is an interactive way to estimate and monitor the amount of carbon emitted in the air.


As we can call carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas, it is extremely important to figure out the level of its pollution. This data should be fully reachable by anyone, therefore the Space Cats deals with the issue of public aware of carbon footprint.

This map shows different areas of Dnipro. It demonstrates enterprises that are allowed to vent carbon and main sources of carbon emission. There are also figures that demonstrate the number of exhausted gas.

We hope to develop an easy way for anyone to track the effect of carbon footprint.

How We Developed This Project

We consider that the problem of carbon dioxide pollution is one of the the main problem in our city. Our team started making our project with research about the level of carbon dioxide emission. Unfortunately, because of the lack of information we use our local sources to make a map. The main problem we faced was getting up-to-date data.

Finally, our team achieved a result; we created a map that shows the level of carbon dioxide emitted in Dnipro. We want to continue developing this map and add information about gases exhausted by the cars.

We used this statistic data to maintain the local sources of carbon dioxide emission and to make a map that shows the most polluted areas.
