What Is Our Carbon Footprint?

Summary
The project consists in creating a place for everyone to be a part of a nature-loving community. Our purpose is to let everyone know that we need to take action. It is not just a problem, it is our problem. By taking action, we prove to people that with every slight gesture each one of us does, we can get one step closer to a better air quality, and a safe planet to live in. We can do this by using social media, our mobile application, the CO2 emission calculators we built and our website. For a modern society, there are also modern ways to fight for our future.
How We Addressed This Challenge
We built:
1. A website with the following options:
- Informing people about Carbon Dioxide and our Carbon Footprints.
- A calculator to measure our carbon emissions
- A "plant a tree" option to understand the big difference of small actions
- A chat to discuss ideas, to talk with people around the world.

2. An instagram community:
- We're still in the very beginning, but we know we can use social media in a better way. By creating a community, we can influence (mainly youngsters) to respect our planet and DO more.

3. An application:
- Sometimes we're most motivated when we see results..Using our application, we can make some basic calculations of carbon emissions. We expect that, by seeing the impact, people will start trying these calculations in real life.

How We Developed This Project
What inspired us in the first place is the world we live in. We look at all the things that are going on right now, all the pollution, all the changes we did to our nature and all the consequences that are revealing daily. We decided not to stay back, but to actually do something. We took action. We took action by creating a website (coded in html, css, javascript), we even have an app prototype, not to mention our community in social media. We know that youth has the power and courage to make a change (although everyone has), so we want everyone to know that it is not just a problem, it is OUR problem and until now, we are doing our best to let everyone know! Of course we have faced and are facing small problems, but when you think that it is for a bigger cause, it looks like there is no problem at all.
How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project
To be able to make the predictions, the calculators and we selected the most useful information for our case, in order for people to be informed well. To do this, it requires more than just reading data. It requires understanding it, and NASA's resources were the right answer for us.

We used the resources we found on the challenge page given by NASA, NHANES, informations shared by different countries, Wikipedia, encyclopedias, and other informations from Google search.
