The Planet Earth Keepers| What Is Our Carbon Footprint?

What Is Our Carbon Footprint?

Your challenge is to identify local sources of carbon emissions and/or estimate amounts of carbon emissions for different human activities to aid scientists in mapping carbon sources and sinks. How can you inform decisions to adapt to the consequences of a changing world and aid policy makers in making plans for the future?

“For The Survival Of Our Planet” (An Insight On GHGs And Why Consciousness Matter)

Summary

To protect our planet from the many problems that are currently attacking it, like contamination and natural resources exploitation, we all got to do our part to make our best shot saving our planet. Human kind have been losing interest in climate change and the destruction we have done contaminating our planet which is very concerning. Our main objective with this project is to spread consciousness and awareness of climate change how people can contribute in reducing GHGs and at the same time save our dearest Planet Earth.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We as a team had many targets to hit with this project, the first one being explaining our current situation in regards of greenhouse gases and make it as simple as posible for every single person reading it to understand it quite easily. we got to define the main aspects and key words and provided with some tips and actions that everybody can do to help reduce the emission of GHGs around the world, also we included some data and statics showing our hometown emissions to let know that this is a real issue and if we do not take action we can certainly regret it in the future.

How We Developed This Project

We as a team got very emotional when we read what this challenge is about and the main reason why was because non of us knew what the carbon footprint is really about, we didn't even know how the greenhouse effect worked and how the emissions of certain gases were damaging the world changing the climate and leveling up the seas, so we took action and decided to inform in regards this matter for people to educate themself and to contribute in making some good changes for beautiful planet. We got to use several tools to develop our project, the main one being search platforms like google and even the main nasa page. In regards to problems we came across the lac of statistics surrounding the emissions made in our hometown but with a lot of effort, patience, and focus, we manage to get the best data posible to cover our expectations for this project.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We were fortunate enough to be provided with a lot of information regarding climate change and why it matters from the Nasa main page. We discover some new facts and info provided for Nasa by their satellites the main one being OCO-2 which determines CO2 emissions.
