Mission to Planet Earth: A Digital History

NASA’s activities in space have brought new knowledge of the Earth, inspiring new ways of thinking about humanity and the planet. However, many people aren’t aware that NASA studies the Earth in addition to other planets. Your challenge is to tell stories of NASA’s Earth science enterprise using interactive digital tools. This will test your technical skills and your ability to think like a historian or educator.

Arcturus

Summary

The aim of our game is to develop a plan for entertainment to attract a large number of people, whether children or adults. Making a game to inform people that NASA was also interested in the planet Earth as it is interested in the rest of the planets. The game is consisting of four phases. Each phase is about a challenge that NASA tries to solve in the Earth. Before the questions of each phase, there is a promo video that gives a general idea about this challenge. After that, there are 20 questions for each phase.

How We Addressed This Challenge

In this game, our team tried to change the point of people's view about NASA. Most people think that NASA works in the field of space only. By this game, they are showed that NASA has many works and develops in Earth planet. The game consists of four phases, each phase represents one challenge that NASA works on Earth. Each phase consists of MCQ questions to test the gamer knowledge about this challenge then questions about NASA efforts in this challenge. The aim of this game is densifying NASA's efforts in earth's surface and show its solutions about the problems in Earth. We have made an alternative web principle for the game due to the lack of time using the CSS language, which we hope will be an attractive and effective way for people to learn in an entertaining way to benefit greatly and enjoy at the same time

How We Developed This Project

One of the members of our team was organizing a workshop in primary school. One of the topics that is in the workshop is some information about NASA. When the speaker started to talk about NASA, all the students were amazed then all of them sayid in the same moment " i want to be a astronent to be a piece of this great committee". The speaker tell them that they can be a piece of NASA without beeing an astronent. All the childern were surprised. From this situation, we decided to make a game showing that NASA helps and tries to solve problems that face Earth planet, also.

The biggest problem that faces us is most of us are not excellent programmer to do the codes of the game application. We search alot, all of us spend 12 hours searching for the code. We solve this problem by making the game in web not in application especially there is a great web development in the team. Another problem that faces us is "how can we attract attention of the gamers" after deep thinking we find a nice design for the questions and we put some encouraging music to make the gamer concentrating on the questions. Also, there is a certificate at the end of each phase of the game and final certificate when the gamer complete the game, this certificate will encourage gamers to complete the game.We used BLOGER to be easy to deal with all ages and CSS AND HTML because they are one of the easiest languages that can be dealt with, and we reach an easy result and when making the introductory web about the game because there are some things we could not provide such as that the form of the questions should have been in another schematic way as in the web Identification and these are blueprints for everything we want to get to and we can do

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

All the information that we got was through the NASA website, which helped us to make specific questions for the game that anyone who visited the game would learn and after we read the information on the NASA website, we put this information in the form of multiple choice questions to facilitate and enjoy the game
