Mission to Planet Earth: A Digital History

NASA’s activities in space have brought new knowledge of the Earth, inspiring new ways of thinking about humanity and the planet. However, many people aren’t aware that NASA studies the Earth in addition to other planets. Your challenge is to tell stories of NASA’s Earth science enterprise using interactive digital tools. This will test your technical skills and your ability to think like a historian or educator.

Voyager from TOYOHASHI

Summary

There are very few illustrations that explain the universe at the perfectly correct scale ratio.Because the universe is almost hollow, you can't make good pictures. However, in the case of VR space, hollowness is also a very good experience. We have created a one billionth scale solar system in VR space. In order to make it easier to feel the scale, we also installed the town of Toyohashi, which is the venue for the hackathon.

How I Addressed This Challenge

This work helps learners understand the scale of the universe

How I Developed This Project

We used Unity as our development environment.

We implemented it in CLUSTER VR SNS.

How I Used Space Agency Data in This Project

I used Hipparcos star data and NASA planet texture data.
