Mission to Planet Earth: A Digital History

NASA’s activities in space have brought new knowledge of the Earth, inspiring new ways of thinking about humanity and the planet. However, many people aren’t aware that NASA studies the Earth in addition to other planets. Your challenge is to tell stories of NASA’s Earth science enterprise using interactive digital tools. This will test your technical skills and your ability to think like a historian or educator.

Summary

In our application, we tried to inform the ones who know a little about important things that affect our universe. We aimed to make people reach out to this informations quicker and easier by narrowing it down to one basic application. We also added the definitions and information of earth sciences to increase their popularity among humanity. We called it HisQuick. The application is very useful by containing a lot of knowledge on earth sciences, events, and people that made so many contributions to this universe that became useful. We categorized all of these parts and made the application easy to use. It doesn’t exhaust you by its simplicity to understand and use the application.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We developed an App including lots of information about what is Earth science, who contributed to develop Earth science and also which events facilitated to improve Earth science. Because having lots of information and being suitable to use, we think, our project is important.It basically integrates information about Earth sciences from different sources in just a single platform. We kept our project simple since we know that how hard can be to find clear information about Earth science. We hope to make a simple app so that users cannot be confused.

How We Developed This Project

Firstly, we chose the topic and we were separated into groups to search for a specific topic. Persons who know programming language worked on the application part. We used the flutter framework and dart language to implement our mobile app. Other group members found articles and gave it to them. After that they did necessary adjustments, the application was ready.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used space agency data from various sources such as NASA, Wikipedia, etc. Mainly our project contains information from the article "Earth Science: NASA's Mission to Our Home Planet". We filtered out the information from this article. In order to describe the definitions of Earth sciences, we fetched them from wikipedia. Also, we used photos of people, events, and representative pictures for Earth sciences from open sources.
