Mission to Planet Earth: A Digital History

NASA’s activities in space have brought new knowledge of the Earth, inspiring new ways of thinking about humanity and the planet. However, many people aren’t aware that NASA studies the Earth in addition to other planets. Your challenge is to tell stories of NASA’s Earth science enterprise using interactive digital tools. This will test your technical skills and your ability to think like a historian or educator.

Summary

Kosmos is a project that wants to share information to the younger generations (13-17 years old) in a practical, didactical, funny, and interesting way. The project would include a part of interviews that we are going to make in order to inspire those teenagers that are not sure to take a scientific or technological career. We also made a game so they can learn in a “cool” way, we connected social media in which we would be posting scientific memes, information, and short videos to inspire.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The web page would make the information easier to get, read and gather. Our social media would work the same way because it would share the information and inspire others to join the scientific and technological crew.

We hope to make a change in the way that teens see science and communicate the experiences of the ones that succeeded.

How We Developed This Project

We were inspired because we see how our friends and family of our same age waste their time in stupid things like Tik Tok dances, etc. instead of learning something and use their time wisely.

We thought the same way that most of the teens, so we concluded that video games, social media and some short videos are attractive to them. We used Wix to create the web page, Game Maker to create the video game and we used ManyChat to create the bot for our social media. We used Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

The video game is 50% done as well as the web page. All the social media are active. We faced some problems of coordination and organization and a little bit of troubles when we developed the game.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used the information about the Earth like the parts, phenomenons. and a little bit of information about the women in NASA.
