Mission to Planet Earth: A Digital History
NASA’s activities in space have brought new knowledge of the Earth, inspiring new ways of thinking about humanity and the planet. However, many people aren’t aware that NASA studies the Earth in addition to other planets. Your challenge is to tell stories of NASA’s Earth science enterprise using interactive digital tools. This will test your technical skills and your ability to think like a historian or educator.
MY EARTH
Summary
The MY EARTH application is developed to tell stories of NASA’s Earth science enterprise using interactive digital tools as gamification. My EARTH contains two main categories. On the first category the user can enjoy playing earth themed games. The easy level contains puzzles and the medium level contains a match three puzzle. Every time the unblocks a level a congratulations message will appear. This message will contain either an information about a mission that NASA did on earth or a scientist/ astronaut that contributed in Nasa’s missions.On the second category the user can follow NASA’s missions throughout the years using a timeline.
How We Addressed This Challenge
WHAT , WHY , HOW ?
My earth is an innovative application that educates people about NASA's earth missions and its history . The importance of this game is to raise awareness towards NASA's diversity at searching about earth in addition to other planets . Using your personal email you choose a phenomena to learn about ; a puzzle and a three match puzzle are provided after winning each level you get a new information about historical missions , scientists and events .
How We Developed This Project
INSPIRATION AND TOOLS :
We choose this challenge because we thought that educating people about their planet will help them admire it and also educate them about various important missions and characters that contributed in the history of our beloved earth .
In coding we used HTML , JAVA
In design we used Adobe XD
How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project
Our app collects data from NASA and provide simplified informations to the user.
In our app we used NASA's data in diffrent ways :
-The puzzle we developed represent a phenomena captured from space
-Every time the user unblocked a level a pop up message will appear congratulating him and containing either an information about a historical NASA's earth mission or astronauts/scientistes that contributed in NASA's earth missions
-The timeline in the adventure mode will allow the user to discover along fascinating informations
