Mission to Planet Earth: A Digital History

NASA’s activities in space have brought new knowledge of the Earth, inspiring new ways of thinking about humanity and the planet. However, many people aren’t aware that NASA studies the Earth in addition to other planets. Your challenge is to tell stories of NASA’s Earth science enterprise using interactive digital tools. This will test your technical skills and your ability to think like a historian or educator.

Summary

We want that the information related directly with the space is attractive and of enjoyment for all the generations, promoting a culture that integrates this type of knowledge, to develop this project we are working in the development of a web page that works in 3 devices which are the most used, Tablet, computer and cellular phone, for the development of this same one we will create two dynamic environments in the structure of this one, considering that the young adult user can integrate the children and viceverse, for the development of this one we are using online platforms mainly.

How We Addressed This Challenge

For the development of this project we decided to focus on the media that have the largest market worldwide, after understanding what these were we researched the main tools that provide information to the user on the Internet and how they did it, based on that we developed a Web page, with the purpose of offering a dynamic platform, with the implementation of audio/visual material looking for the interaction of different forms with the user in the same platform, for these in the section of children we implemented audios that serve as a podcast for these, offering another learning process, this will also be done with the main section that is intended for a curious audience and not looking for technicalities, or study a career just by visiting our site, the page implemented the blog format, informative articles for people 15 years and older and for the children's section implemented informative articles and stories that cover categories looking for children to know things about the space that at first for children of 5 years is how you can interest them, the operation is all developed on the same platform that works through links generating the whole page, we intend to achieve a space of scientific disclosure for a user interested in the space, but not looking for titles entirely commercial.

How We Developed This Project

We are interested in NASA and this proposal to inspire problem solving, we saw that the area of information was an interesting area to venture into, and as university students, the research skills we have developed, mainly was the fact of knowing how we were situated, in front of the other challenges, the focus was always to develop something that is dynamic, nice, not tedious and that offers the reader something enjoyable, digestible despite having very little knowledge of space, for the blog part, we seek to be an option for people who want to read and not be bored, the approach was always that, the tools we used were web design platforms and implementation of tools required to make the website, we use Wordpress consulted and was the page that gave us more freedom, domain and hosting we got with GoDaddy, the development of the design and structure of the website was the most tedious, mainly the structure since in our careers we had not led the development of these, but we solved in one day we made the website

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

The information that was provided to us to realize the project gave 3 sources the NASA, Space Agency of Canada and Space Agency of Japan, this information we implemented it to our informative articles, blogs, stories, audios, information for children always conserving the sources that make reference to the generators of this information
