We developed the 'On-ion water filtration system'. This filtration system is a cheap, eco-friendly and very effective system which provides us with clean, heavy metal free water. This filtration system consists of two parts. First part is the part with filter with column that contains onion skin powder which filters the pollutants (heavy metals) and the second is the bio-transformation part. When water passes through the column, heavy metals present in the water will be successfully removed, leaving the water clean. The water is then channeled into the clean water collector after being filtered through 0.22um membrane (to remove microbes).

For the elution of the heavy metals bound to the column, a suitable anionic solution is poured into the filter. Before doing so, it is made sure that the stopper A (linking the column compartment to clean water collector) is closed whilts B (compartment containing microbes with bio-transforming properties) is open. The solution now containing concentrated heavy metals moved into the bio transformant chamber, that already has microbes with bio-transforming properties. They are left there for a suitable duration as per the microbes used. After biotransformation is complete, the water can be used to water plants. To avoid accidental consumption of heavy metals.
