Awards & Nominations

CyTE INAOE has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!

Global Nominee

Hey! What Are You Looking At?

The High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center (HEASARC) archives space agencies' data from missions studying electromagnetic radiation from extremely energetic cosmic phenomena (e.g., gravitational wave detections, gamma ray bursts, and supernovae). The Canadian Astronomy Data Center (CADC) is another repository containing missions studying comets, asteroids, and exoplanets among other things. Your challenge is to create a visualization tool that can help people interested in these phenomena to access the data quickly and easily.

Mole Stellar

Summary

It is proposed to develop a mobile application that will provide themore interesting data from the High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center (HEASARC), focused especially for non-professional user of astronomy and astrophysics. This tool will provide a simple visual environment where the user has an interaction more accessible.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Develop an mobile application that presents data on the cosmic events captured and

stored by the High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center (HEASARC). It is importat because display at simplest way to undestand all data and provide a dynamic environment. The diagram (will put a link from Google Drive here) explain step by step the process of this app. The application will have an academic and social impact, by reporting on astronomical events more captivating for the general public and the missions that carry out this data collection. That the user interested in space sciences, check the simplicity with which high-end or complex information can be accessed. Influence the interest of the population so that they approach the study of space sciences and function as a method of dissemination.

How We Developed This Project

We got inspirance by the main problem: Science Communication, specially here in Mexicp. We got a lot information in HEASARC in other words "it´s a knowlegde nest" but it does not works if we dont share it at simplest way. We use different kind of tools, fist we use the program "Ionic" to make the first prototype of the App. Then we use Marvelapp to make the "tentative" first browsing interface, and to make the Pitch usinng Adobe Spark. We did not pay any money for make this prototype.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

Providing the most interesting data from the High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center (HEASARC) part of NASA´s repository, focused especially for the amateur user of astronomy and astrophysics.
