Hey! What Are You Looking At?

The High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center (HEASARC) archives space agencies' data from missions studying electromagnetic radiation from extremely energetic cosmic phenomena (e.g., gravitational wave detections, gamma ray bursts, and supernovae). The Canadian Astronomy Data Center (CADC) is another repository containing missions studying comets, asteroids, and exoplanets among other things. Your challenge is to create a visualization tool that can help people interested in these phenomena to access the data quickly and easily.

UNIVERSE4E (Data for everyone)

Summary

This project was built on the idea of making everyone's access to the telescopes' data, which Canadian Astronomy Data Center provide us, in an easier, more manageable way. Therefore, we have used a platform called "Aladin" that presents the space and every galaxy in the space with the 3D technology. Additionally, we provide all this information in every language to ensure an easy understanding.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We have tried to convey the data of these telescopes with the coordinate system in a more understandable way by showing you the data in each telescope visually on a 3d platform. With this use, there is a visual that can come to life in your mind. In other words, by entering the coordinates of a telescope, you will see the image of that galaxy.

How We Developed This Project

First of all, we determined the data we need to use and where we can get it. Then we brought this data together and in a certain order with Python. We added the "Aladin" platform to create a visual image. Finally, we created a fun website to show you all of these in the easiest way possible. While we do this we used several programs like HTML, JavaScript and CSS

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

In this project, we used the telescope data provided by institutions such as Nasa HEASARC and CADC to obtain the necessary information about space.

Project Demo

We couldn't upload the video. So we put the different photos of the website. And also you can find this website from the link which presented down below.

Here is the subtitle of our video:

Hi! It’s the Team “Tardigrades”. To know us better you can check the “Team” section from our website. We have prepared a website for the category of “What are you looking at”. Our main goal is to make everyone’s access to telescopes’ data easier and more enjoyable. To reach a larger community, we have added three different language options for you to find what you are looking for easier. Apart from this communication is a very important thing for us. Therefore you can communicate with us about your opinions and your suggestions.
