A One Health Approach

Air pollution is a major global environmental health risk, causing an estimated seven million deaths across the globe annually. Your challenge is to take an interdisciplinary approach, using both Earth science and health science, and integrate different types of datasets and applications to study the effects of air pollution.

IoT based air quality monitoring System

Summary

In this project we are going to make an IOT Based Air Pollution Monitoring System in which we will monitor the Air Quality over a webserver using internet and will trigger a alarm when the air quality goes down beyond a certain level, means when there are sufficient amount of harmful gases are present in the air like CO2, smoke, alcohol, benzene and NH3. It will show the air quality in PPM on the LCD and as well as on webpage so that we can monitor it very easily. Previously we have built the LPG detector using MQ6 sensor and Smoke detector using MQ2 sensor but this time we have used MQ135 sensor which is the best choice for monitoring Air Quality as it can detects most harmful gases and can

How We Addressed This Challenge

According to the World Health Organization, 4.6 million people die as a result of air pollution. There are many harmful gases present in the air like CO2, CO, sulphur dioxide and NH3. For this reason we are facing breathing difficulties, lung and heart problems, it can even cause death.

How We Developed This Project

solve this problem we have to aware of our general people by giving them real-time updated value. To do so we have to survey air quality, detect harmful gases, at the same time we have to send them some feedback.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

In our solution to measure air quality we developed a device using IoT sensors. It will monitor Air Quality over a web server using the internet and anyone can access those data using a smartphone.

NASA Data: In our solution according to the condition of the challenge we used NASA’s Open Data. We used air quality data set, atmosphere temperature data set and atmospheric water vapour data set from NASA earth data.

Project Demo

our device is robust it can be used by the general people. This is a very user-friendly, anyone can see the sensors value by scanning the QR code. This device will not only provide real-time accurate value but also gives us notification if there is a potential degradation of air quality.
