A One Health Approach

Air pollution is a major global environmental health risk, causing an estimated seven million deaths across the globe annually. Your challenge is to take an interdisciplinary approach, using both Earth science and health science, and integrate different types of datasets and applications to study the effects of air pollution.

Air Pollution: Its effects and control by Green Chemistry.

Summary

Air pollution is one of the major problem on earth. I will directly come to the point. On one side air pollutants will be reduced and on the other side they will be available for their conversion to useful chemicals.MY IDEA: First of all we will need to liquefy those pollutants. Here comes the green chemistry . We will use different biomasses like branches or leaves(biological) to adsorb it. After adsorption we will perform the FTIR of the extract to find out the atom with which our concerned pollutant is bonded. Then according to SHE modal we will isolate them from biomass. Biomass can be used again. Pollutants are reduced in air. Pollutants are free to use for concerned purpose.

How I Addressed This Challenge

IDEA:

For gas pollutants:

I have devised an idea . First of all we will need to liquefy those pollutants. Here comes the green chemistry . We will use different biomasses like branches or leaves(biological) to adsorb it. After adsorption we will perform the FTIR of the extract to find out the atom with which our concerned pollutant is bonded. Then according to SHE modal we will isolate them from biomass. Biomass can be used again. Pollutants are reduced in air. Pollutants are free to use for concerned purpose.

For Solid Pollutants:

The solid pollutants like lead in air causes most dangerous diseases like cancer, Alzhmier's disease, Affected births and even premature deaths. So, It will also be adsorbed by using this technique. During my research i used CITRUS JIMBHIRI as biomass. After FTIR i got it converted to a salt of it.

ITS IMPORTANCE:

This idea has three important benefits.



  • Biomass is again in pure form so, it can be used again and in case of disposal it will not cause any kind of pollution as it is bio de gradable.
  • Air pollutants are reduced and it will bring good effects on the health of people and the death rate due to it will be reduced.
  • We can use the air pollutants for further experimentations.

ITS PROCEDURE:



  • Liquefying pollutants.
  • Collecting material for biomass
  • Preparation of biomass
  • Preparation of solutions of pollutants.
  • Mixing of solutions and biomass and shaking under certain conditions.
  • Extracting the biomass from the mixture by filtration.
  • Detection of pollutants using spectrophotometry.
  • Drying out the extract.
  • Using FTIR
  • Choosing suitable element from SHE MODAL
  • Isolating the pollutant.
  • And after work.

EXPECTATIONS:

I expect it an successful idea which gives multiple benefits with minimum loss probability.

How I Developed This Project
  • I have worked on a research project. It was related to Water pollution and control of lead. I adsorbed it using biomass. I unfortunately could not isolate lead from biomass due to lack of funds and shortage of times. But according to me this idea of isolating pollutant from biomass is going to work and is much beneficial.
  • My aim was at saving the future so, i devised this idea of isolating pollutants.
  • I used my laptop, mobile, some books, internet, some articles and my background knowledge along with my researching mind to devise this project.
  • My team is only me and i have succesfully worked on adsorption of lead from water.
How I Used Space Agency Data in This Project

I got information from space agency to make me more precise in my work. I visited the links given by NASA SPACE APPS for help. They assisted me a lot.
