Sleep Shift Scheduling Tool

Sleep loss and fatigue may lead to reduced performance and an increased risk to safety during many activities, including spaceflight. Your challenge is to develop an operational sleep shift scheduling tool that provides autonomous customization of a schedule for sleep, exercise, and nutrition to manage fatigue.

WAKE Sleep in Space

Summary

WAKE is an app that is compatible with a smart wristband that helps track your sleep and provide tips and tricks daily for sleep! These features include leaderboards for consistency in sleep for those competitive people, fun games with friends, streaks and even food and exercise entries that can help you stay healthy overall. What makes our idea so unique is the fact that this data is provided through zero gravity differentiating it from previous designs for health trackers. WAKE is a great way to stay healthy, and have fun at the same time in Space!

How We Addressed This Challenge

Us at team Awaken believe that sleep is very beneficial for functioning and especially so in space. By creating WAKE, we want to be able to help everyone who has difficulties sleeping or for those who just want to track their health in space through an enjoyable manner.

How We Developed This Project

Our team was inspired because of how evolved and innovated things had become in space and other areas/fields. We thought of how we could potentially impact the space industry with an idea of our own and that's how WAKE started. We used Adobe Spark for our 30 second video which was an easy and effective tool that got the job done in record time. During this process however our team struggled with coming up with an idea and because of that when we did get a show stopping one if was definitely an achievement.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We realized through the data the importance of exercising, maintaining a healthy sleep schedule and nutrition really was in space and how CSA and NASA were currently acting upon it.
